'72DP' is the latest in a string of large-scale mural and installation works created by sydney and new york-based design and illustration duo, craig & karl.
 
The immersive mural, executed with their trademark eye-popping use of colour, occupies the underground car park
of an award-winning residence in sydney, australia's darling point by architects marsh cashman koolloos (MCK).
 
'the objective of the project was to breathe new life into the space which, having been rendered in concrete with little inlet of natural light, felt quite dark and heavy. working closely with the owners, who possess a keen design sensibility, it was decided that the mural would
cover all surfaces in a blanket of bright color. there was also a request that the larger wall surfaces be left blank with an eye towards potentially introducing additional, individually commissioned works at a future date. nevertheless it was vital that the installation feel
and function as a complete work in its own right. the resulting design is a dynamic mix of overlapping geometric forms that mirror and respond to the angularity of the architecture. the whole piece is tied together by a winding, ribbon-style device which, acting as a central axis, leads in from the driveway, through the space and out to the garden beyond.' - craig & karl

Spontaneous Sculpturs del autor norteamericano Brad Downey (Editorial Gestalten) es un homenaje a inumerables acciones de intervención existentes y no existentes del espacio público.
Un libro pequeño de 160 páginas a todo color, es en cambio un documento rico en su contenido. No tiene mucho que ver con graffit, es más: nada. Las imagenes que muestras el autor son proyectos espontáneos y/o planificados pero por lo general de una vida útil mínima.

No se trata de pintura, se trata de intervención. De manifestarse ocupando los medios que te dá tu entorno. Postes, luces, rejas, hojas, ventanas, paneles y muchos otros elementos son modificados y presentados en Spontaneous Sculptures. Esto es 100% improvisación.

Es también por eso que cada página aparte de sus debidas fotografías de la acción urbana, contiene la información del autor, fotógrafo Y DE LA DURACIÓN de la acción. Es normal ver (5 min, 1 hora, 1 día). No vá más allá.

Justamente por eso este libro es una buena inspiración a modifiar tu entorno. Una alternativa a pintarlo ;)

Jay "J.Son" Edlin nos presenta su último libro (antes ha escrito para la revista Vibe, The Source y Juxtapoz) "Graffiti 365" (Editorial Adams). Como podrán deducir de su nombre, algo tiene que ver con los 365 días del año.
Así es, con más de 600 páginas a todo color en formato apaisado, "Graffiti 365" recorre en orden alfabético los más conocidos nombres del arte urbano. Nombres, galerías, estilos de pintura, tendencias, grupos y lugares.

F = Fafi, Faber o The Fab 5
S = Saber, Sachs Project o Saner

Cada artista con una página, imágen y breve biografía. Naturalmente hay más de uno por letra. Es interesante la selección en este libro, ya que tiene un enfoque más por el lado del graffiti en EE.UU, especialmente en Nueva York (Blade & Co.). Dejando espacio para las tendencias actuales (Banksy & Co.).

Buena calidad de las imágenes, exclusivas en su mayoría. "Graffiti 365" finalmente también abre los ojos a otros artistas previamente no tan expuestos en otras publicaciones o en los medios.
